What it is
Generator is a whole-class ELT speaking and grammar game played over multiple rounds. All teams draw from the same random story symbols dealt at the start of each round, and a team must combine the symbol it picks with the round's grammar target into one spoken sentence.
Because the symbols are random, the game demands creative production, not just recall of set phrases. Later rounds award more points, so teams that fall behind can still catch up.
The teacher judges students' sentences with the buttons for key grammar, extra effort, or a minor mistake, and this adjusts the wheel's possible points. Spin to award the score. Click another team if one is not ready, and return later in the round. Add or remove rounds mid-game as needed. The highest score wins.

Who it suits
Generator works across the full CEFR range from A1 to C1. The grammar target is rotated randomly by level, or set by the teacher, so it can target a specific structure — present simple, past continuous, reported speech, or anything else currently in focus. This makes it a flexible tool for production practice at any level or lesson stage.
It works best when students are already familiar with the target structure and need an opportunity to use it in spontaneous speech rather than controlled exercises.
How classroom play works
The teacher opens the game on a shared classroom screen — a projector, interactive whiteboard or classroom display — adds a specific grammar focus if they prefer that, and the round begins. The teacher can add or take away rounds during play to fit classroom time limitations. No individual student devices are needed.
Skill focus
Generator is primarily a speaking game. It hones the ability to form grammatically accurate sentences under mild pressure. The story symbols introduce a creative constraint that prevents students from preparing identical sentences in advance, which encourages genuine language generation rather than memorisation. See the CEFR guide for how levels are applied across Lingadoo games.
