FAQ

Common questions about Lingadoo, its classroom games, teaching tools, and how everything works in practice.

What is Lingadoo?

Lingadoo is a classroom platform for English language teachers. It brings together whole-class games and practical teaching tools in one place.

Everything is designed for real ELT classrooms: minimal setup, clear instructions, and activities that teachers can adapt to different ages, levels, and lesson aims.

Who is Lingadoo for?

Lingadoo is made for English language teachers working with learners from beginner to advanced level.

It can be used with young learners, teenagers, and adults in schools, language academies, private lessons, and online classes.

What can I find on Lingadoo?

Lingadoo has two main areas:

How do the games work in class?

The teacher opens a game on a computer and displays it on the classroom board or shared screen.

Students usually play in teams, responding verbally, producing language, solving challenges, or answering questions. The teacher controls the game, confirms answers, and moves play forward.

Students do not normally need to log in or use their own devices.

What are the teaching tools for?

Lingadoo’s tools are designed to solve practical classroom problems.

They can help teachers choose students or teams, manage time and turns, generate prompts, display or analyse language, create discussion ideas, make worksheets, and keep lessons moving without switching between multiple websites or applications.

Some tools are designed for direct classroom use, while others help teachers prepare material before a lesson.

Is Lingadoo a Kahoot alternative?

Lingadoo can be used as an alternative to Kahoot, but it is built around a different style of classroom interaction.

Kahoot mainly centres on individual students answering timed quiz questions on separate devices. Lingadoo focuses on teacher-led, whole-class activities in which students speak, discuss, produce language, and work together.

Lingadoo also includes a wider set of teaching and lesson-preparation tools rather than functioning only as a quiz platform.

What makes Lingadoo different from general classroom game platforms?

Lingadoo is made specifically for English language teaching.

Its activities are organised around the kinds of language teachers actually teach, including grammar structures, vocabulary, pronunciation, spelling, and spoken production. Many activities can also be adjusted by CEFR level or language focus.

The aim is not simply to test whether students know an answer, but to get them using English.

Do students need accounts or devices?

No. For normal classroom use, only the teacher needs an account and a connected device.

Games and tools can be displayed on a projector, interactive whiteboard, or shared screen. Students participate together without creating accounts or downloading an app.

Can Lingadoo be used for online or hybrid classes?

Yes.

Games and compatible tools can be shared through a temporary live link. Students open the link on a computer or tablet and see a real-time, read-only version of the teacher’s screen.

The teacher remains in control. Students do not need an account or app, and the link expires after the session.

Teachers can also screen-share Lingadoo through platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams.

Is there anything to install?

No. Lingadoo runs in a web browser.

There is no software or app to download, and updates are applied automatically.

What CEFR levels does Lingadoo cover?

Lingadoo includes content from A1 to C1.

The available range depends on the individual game or tool. Where level selection is available, teachers can choose the level that best matches their class.

What language skills does Lingadoo cover?

Lingadoo activities can be used to practise:

Each game or tool has its own particular focus.

Can teachers adjust the difficulty?

Yes.

Many activities allow teachers to choose a CEFR level, grammar focus, topic, or other content settings before starting.

Some games also support different levels for different teams, making them suitable for mixed-ability classes.

Teachers remain in control of how strictly answers are judged and can adapt activities to suit their students.

How many students can use Lingadoo?

Lingadoo works with individual learners, small groups, and full classes.

Most games are team-based, but a team can contain one student or many students. The exact number of teams depends on the game.

Many tools can also be used in one-to-one lessons.

Do I need to prepare anything before using a game?

Usually very little.

For most games, the teacher selects the relevant options, enters team names, and starts playing. Some games allow additional choices such as level, grammar focus, topic, or number of teams.

Instructions are provided inside each activity.

Are new games and tools added?

Yes. Lingadoo is actively developed, and new games and teaching tools are added over time.

Existing activities are also updated based on classroom use and teacher feedback.

Is Lingadoo free to join?

Yes. Teachers can create a free account and start using Lingadoo.
