Lingadoo’s Origins
A note from the founder
Lingadoo grew out of a problem I kept encountering as an English teacher: classroom materials were often either engaging but shallow, or educational but awkward to prepare and use.
I began building Lingadoo for my own students, guided by three principles. Everything had to be quick to set up, genuinely useful in the classroom, and grounded in the specific needs of English language teaching.
My background is in linguistics, and I have spent years teaching English to learners of different ages and levels, as well as writing material for ELT textbooks. I have also spent years learning languages myself: making predictable mistakes, losing interest in repetitive exercises, and discovering what actually helps new language stick.
Lingadoo now brings together classroom games and practical teaching tools. The games are designed to make meaningful language practice more engaging. The tools help with everyday classroom tasks such as choosing students, generating ideas, analysing language, and managing activities.
Everything is designed to work flexibly in real classrooms. Teachers can adjust difficulty, pacing, turn-taking, and other settings as the lesson unfolds, rather than having to plan for every possibility in advance.
Lingadoo is meant to make English lessons easier to run, more engaging for students, and more useful for teachers.
Enjoy!
