About Baamboozle

Baamboozle is a whole-class team game played on a shared screen. Teachers choose a question set, divide students into two teams, and teams take turns answering to earn points, or lose them via "Baamboozle" penalty tiles. The platform has a large community-created library with many ELT-relevant sets, and teachers can also create their own. It requires no student devices and works entirely from one screen. The experience is fast-paced and competitive, which suits mixed-ability review well.

Who is it for?

Good fit for

A 10-minute team competition at the end of class using only the board or projector. No student devices needed, minimal setup.

Less suitable for

In-depth grammar practice or activities that require extended student speaking time.

Editorial assessment

Biggest strength

Easy to run with no student devices needed. Large community library reduces preparation time.

Biggest weakness

The penalty/bonus mechanic can feel arbitrary, and content quality in the community library varies widely.

Editorial note

A reliable fallback for no-device classrooms. ELT-specific content depends on which sets you find or create. Quality is inconsistent across community contributions.
